Leading British fashion designer Vivienne Westwood first came to the fashion world's attention in 1971 when she began selling her innovative and rebellious designs in her husband and Sex Pistol's manager Malcolm McClaren's shop on London's King's Road. Westwood has since gone on to carve out an inimitable niche for her punk rock attitude to fashion , romantic tailoring, skilful corsetry and signature though-chic accessories.

Vivenne were supposed to be in a scene, but declined after being unimpressed with the costuming by renowned stylist Patricia Field. Westwood walked out of the movie premiere after just 10 minutes and criticised the clothing featured as being frumpy and boring. The wedding dress is know known worldwide as the movie's most iconic features, it has also led Westwood to approach the producers about being involved in making a sequel.
